Obituary: Jerry Martin David (1939-2012)

The former Marine and business man succumbed to heart disease on Sept 24, 2012.

Prominent Mountain View Businessman, Eddy’s Sport Shop owner Gerald Martin David passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 of heart failure in Modesto, CA.

Born in San Francisco on January 29, 1939, he moved with his family after World War II to Mountain View in 1950. David attended Mountain View High School and after graduating in 1958 attended Foothill College.

David joined the Marine Corps and was assigned to the 1st Air Delivery Company in San Jose, where he led a competitive rifle team, and continued working with his father at Eddy's Sport Shop during his service. He served as a reserve police officer with the Mountain View Police Department and competed in many Police Pistol Competitions. He achieved many awards and was considered was one of best shooters in the state.

Most recently David lived in Sonora, CA with his companion Pam Christ. He is survived by Pam, sister Phyllis (Richard) Sevick, daughter Elizabeth David, sons Brian David, Brett (Adria) David, Gregory David, nephew Steven (Melissa) Sevick, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and numerous cousins and many friends.

Private interment will be at Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, CA.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held Sunday Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. in the Palo Alto Elks Lodge, 4249 El Camino Real, Palo Alto. Everyone welcome.
