Obituary: Miguel A. Velasco Jr. (1949-2013)

Owner of the now closed El Zarape restaurant died peacefully at home.

A native of Watsonville, Miguel passed at his Mountain View home surrounded by his family on March 29th. He was 64.

Born on Feb. 12, 1949, he graduated from Mountain View High School and served in U.S. Army reserve for six years. He also owned the Mountain View restaurant El Zarape Restaurant. He enjoyed Las Vegas, hot rods and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Jackie Velasco, children Michael (Marie), Danny (Marguerite) and Erica Velasco; grandchildren Lexi, Jayden, Lauren, Jordyn and Darla. His generous spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of Miguel's life was held on Sat. April 6 at Cusimano Family Colonial Mortuary. Contributions preferred to Pathways Hospice.
