Tony Edward Reyes
Resident of San Bruno

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Tony Edward Reyes, who died tragically in a car accident on Sept. 28, 2012. Our hearts are heavy with the pain of losing "Tonito," age 38.

Born in Mountain View and a native of Cupertino, he leaves behind his beautiful wife Nicole Sylls and precious daughter, Gianna. He is survived by his mother Jessica Reyes, siblings Albert Reyes and Norma Rintala (John), and lots of family, including nieces and nephews Michael, Joseph, Alyssa, Veronica, Salena, Olivia, John, and Andrew. He is preceded in death by his father, Antonio S. Reyes.

Tony graduated from Monta Vista High School in Cupertino and San Jose State University. He discovered his passion for bowling in his youth while living near the bowling alley in Cupertino. Tony played leagues in high school and started traveling to tournaments, with his mother always by his side. He played for the San Jose State bowling team and earned many collegiate awards. He was recently inducted into the Northern CA Youth Bowling Hall of Fame.

Tony played in the Professional Bowlers Association for 14 seasons, traveling all over the world. In 2006 he won the PBA Tour title in Detroit and scored a perfect 300 in a nationally televised game. He co-ran a successful pro shop at 4th Street Bowl in San Jose called Off the Sheet. He also found time to train local youth and coordinate annual tournaments.

His greatest love and achievement was his family life with Nicole and Gianna. He enjoyed simple times with his family and friends watching San Francisco Giants and Oakland Raider games, often sharing his home with the close knit group of friends he cherished.

Tony was taken away from us too soon, but his giving spirit and charming personality will be remembered by all.

Visitation is on Sunday, Oct. 7 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Barrett Ballroom, San Jose State Student Union, with a vigil service at 6 p.m. A funeral mass and burial will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 9 2012 at St. Joseph's Church, Cupertino at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to www.tonyreyesmemorial.org.

I am still totally devastated by Tony's tragic death. He was just such a special person, what you saw was what you got - and that was a beautiful smile that lit up a room, put you in a great frame of mind if you were down and just an all round great guy! Having known him since his teens, he was just someone that you always remembered and had the greatest respect and admiration for. My sincere condolences to his wife, daughter and other family members and friends. Know that you are all not only in my thoughts and prayers, but also those of my congregation as well. Hi Kay, I've been viewing the videos of Tony on YouTube and I can see what you mean. He just seemed so happy and nice. So sad to learn about a person after they are gone. Perhaps his legacy will be big as a result.

Hi Claudia, Hopefully his legacy will live on because he brought so much to the sport of bowling and was a true sportsman in every way possible. A true friend to all who knew him and a great ambassador for bowling!
