Mountain View resident uses Facebook to spread WARMTH to the homeless during this cold snap!

We have experienced in the Bay Area in the few weeks the longest cold snap in history. We were at 12 dead of hypothermia and that doesn't include animals, when local Mountain View resident decided prayers weren't enough. Bonnie Fowler "I think sometimes God puts things heavy on our hearts because he wants us to DO something, to take action."   She posted on social media giant Facebook a request, for help & created an event page. People could donate, physically help assemble and deliver, or just share on their pages to carry the message. They put together over 30 Christmas Santa Size bags which the Fowler Family hand delivered Sunday, not to a shelter but to folks sleeping in the parks, under the bridges, etc. ♥ These bags each include a blanket, a sweater or jacket, a can of food with can opener, a sack lunch (peanut butter and jelly sandwich, 2 cuties, crackers, drink, slimjim, cocoa packet and tea bag, and more!) and each with a pair of socks, gloves scarf or beanie, a gallon ziplock bag full of toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrush, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, mini sewing kit, soap, napkin, fork, knife and spoon, and more!)
"Most homeless are mentally ill or suffering from a nasty addiction. Until we stop closing mental institutions, and throwing these people in group homes and on the streets, our homeless problem will only get worse. Until we stop locking people up for drug addictions and start rehabilitating them, they will only increase. Our sack lunch will only feed them one meal, and my hopes is that the blankets, jackets and sweaters, help keep them alive 1 more day, so that they have a chance to overcome that addiction, or find some kind of recovery, or the help they need. There are a lot of myths around homeless people, that they all just want a hand out and don't want to work is one of the biggest ones, we need to value all human life." - Bonnie Fowler "This is something anybody can do..." Crucial thanks to all who donated and/or helped create our Blessing Bags for Mission Freezeballz 2013.
