A Profile of a Bobcat Rugby Kid: Ciaran Lynch

Introducing the kids of the Mountain View Bobcats!

Who: Ciaran Lynch

Age: 11

Position: Scrum Half (like a Half Back in Football). Also called Scrummie.

Hometown: Born in Guidford in Surrey, England but Mountain View's his hometown now.

Why do you play Rugby? I think it is the greatest sport on earth; it has everything you want from a game - its fast and furious, I like running, passing and kicking and most of all I like scoring trys - a try is like a touchdown in football.

Isn’t rugby a dangerous sport? No not at all, a lot of people, especially parents think it is a dangerous sport but thats because they have never played it and don’t understand the rules. Don't knock it until you try it !! At the Bobcats we learn to play non-contact touch/flag rugby at first and when we get confident and our coaches are happy with our progress we graduate to tackle rugby.

Isn’t youth rugby just for overweight kids? Definitely not I am one of the smallest players but I have been captain of the Bobcats in the past - I am really fast with the ball. Thats the great thing about the game of rugby its needs all players of all shapes and sizes.

What do you like most about the Bobcats? I like the feeling of togetherness and team work at the bobcats. Our main aim is to have fun and play safely but I have also made great friends and feel really healthy.

Would you recommend rugby to your friends? Absolutely, I have introduced several friends already; Rugby is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon during the winter months when most sports take a break. It's much better and healthier than sitting in front of the computer.

We think it will be really fun and entertaining but also a great way to exercise without evenRead More realizing it's exercise! So glad you agree, Claudia! David Dworkin is terrific all around.

Thanks for the comment Murthy. I think there's only one Ram Saripalli in the area, but I don't wantRead More to assume. If I learn anything more, I'll post.

Mark, I will contact the SCC Coroner's office for information about his identity and then hopefullyRead More that can help us learn more about this man. I can only imagine how horrible this must have been.

My heart goes out to his family. I'm really saddened that the person who hit him is going to haveRead More to deal with guilty feelings/horrible memories from this, even though it was 0% his fault. If someone wants to take their own life, then that's terribly sad, but I think it's especially terrible to involve or potentially involve someone else in the process.

I'm not sure Gary. I'm not sure if your situation is specific to you or many other users since thisRead More is the first day of the redesign. I'll find out and get back to you.
