Non-Contact Rugby: The Next Big Thing. Help Us Coach the Next Generation of USA Rugby Stars

We will need more adults to get involved and help to coach kids who want to play non-contact rugby. Its simple to learn and its lots of fun.

Rugby is one of the fastest growing youth sports in the USA right now and there has been an explosion in the number of High schools and colleges offering rugby programs

A large part of the sudden increase in interest in Rugby in the US, is driven by the fact that Rugby will be an Olympic Sport in the Summer 2016 games. We are experiencing a significant increase in the number of kids who want to play non-contact rugby at all age groups but we do not have enough volunteer coaches to meet the demand.

Non-contact rugby is fun and fast and its ideal for boys and girls and children who are new to the game. It teaches the kids the fundamentals of the game of rugby without the worry of getting hurt during tackles. It also reduces the risk of concussion which is a big concern in all youth sports right now.

Non-contact rugby still allows us to impart some key life skills such as effective team work, good sportsmanship and respect for authority and peers—teaching and reinforcing these skills will remain a core part of our mission.

As a consequence of increasing the number of kids we will need more adults to get involved and help to coach the children.

On Tuesday April 16th, two USA Rugby coaches are visiting Stanford to run a coaching class for volunteers who would like to get involved and coach Non-contact rugby. The class begins at 6:30 at Steuber stadium.
