UPDATED: Father and 2-Year-Old Daughter Found Dead; Amber Alert Cancelled

Update, Sunday, Aug 14: CBS 47 reports that a spokesperson for the Federal Bureau of Investigation has confirmed that an autopsy is underway to determine the cause of the death of the father and daughter. According to the Sacramento Bee/the San Jose Mercury News, the El Dorado County Sheriff's Department and Federal Bureau of Investigation on Sunday did not give any details about the circumstances of the deaths. The article in the Bee said Moni Samaan was a Fair Oaks resident who worked for Hewlett-Packard as a development engineer.

At about 8 p.m. tonight, his green Toyota 4Runner was located in a remote area of El Dorado County near Placerville with both bodies inside, according to the FBI.

The cause and time of their deaths are unknown.

Samaan had shared joint custody of Madeline with her mother and was served a legal notice to return the child late last week, FBI officials said. The mother reported the child missing Sunday to Sacramento police, who worked in conjunction with the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department and the FBI on the case.
