Burger Patrons Sought in Los Altos Credit Card Theft

The Los Altos Police posted security camera pictures of two individuals at In-N-Out Burger in Mountain View and Safeway in Sunnyvale.

Los Altos Police turned to Silicon Valley Crime Stoppers Monday to investigate a case of a purse stolen from a car.

Police found that the credit cards from that purse had been used in a Safeway and a burger restaurant, said Det. Abe Velasco.

Photos of two men taken from the restaurant on El Camino Real and Grant Road in Mountain View and a Safeway store in Sunnyvale, have been released, along with a photo of the car the two were driving.

In the burger restaurant, one young man wore a black jacket and a black baseball hat backwards. He is standing next to another young man in a plaid shirt and watch cap. The four-door, light-colored vehicle at In-N-Out Burger has a sunroof.

"Anytime we think the public can assist us in solving the case, we'll release photos and ask for help," Det. Velasco said.

Velasco said the purse was stolen from an unlocked car parked overnight in the driveway of a home in south Los Altos sometime between 8 p.m. April 13 and 9:30 a.m. April 14.

If anyone recognizes the individuals or has information that person may contact Officer D. Corkern (650) 947-2674. Crime Stoppers has an anonymous tip submission feature.

When I talk to MVPD officials about theft from vehicles, they always say the same thing: don't leave anything in your car that would make someone want to steal it. Oh, and lock the door!
