Coroner IDs Passenger Killed in Suspected DUI Crash on Hwy 101

A woman killed in a suspected DUI crash on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Sunnyvale last Friday was 30-year-old Vanessa Danilloff, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.

Danilloff, a Sunnyvale resident, died at the scene of the crash that injured four others off of the highway near Lawrence Expressway just before 2 a.m. Friday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

She was one of the passengers in a 1996 Honda driven by Edwardo Jaime Jr., 34, of San Jose, heading north on Highway 101 when Jaime turned toward the off-ramp to the expressway, according to the CHP.

The car then veered off of the roadway and landed on its side in a dirt embankment.

Jaime and three other passengers, Roxane Jaime, 23; Jaime Garcia, 44; and Jeff Hushaw, 25, all of San Jose, were transported to hospitals with injuries not considered life-threatening.

No one in the car was wearing seatbelts, CHP officials said.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter, according to CHP Officer Ross Lee.

Lee said the group had just left a birthday party prior to the crash.
