Drunken Man Found on Sidewalk Taken to Hospital

Good Samaritan calls police after seeing man passed out near bus stop.

A visibly inebriated man was removed by officers of the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety from the premises of a motel near the border with Mountain View on Saturday afternoon.

A Good Samaritan got off the No. 22 Valley Transit Authority bus Saturday on the corner of San Bernardo Avenue and El Camino Real and noticed the man lying on the sidewalk near the Der Gahn Motel in Sunnyvale. She called police at 3:35 p.m.

When the police arrived, they made the man sit upright. They called for an ambulance, and while they waited, the man, who is in his 50s, said he drank a bottle and a half of vodka that morning.
