DUI Arrests Total 23 in Mountain View Crackdown

The Summer-Labor Day focus on drunken driving arrests is in its final day on the Monday holiday.

 

With one more day of a national campaign to arrest drunken drivers, Mountain View Police has logged two more arrests Saturday, totalling 23 for the 16 days of enforcement so far. Sunday arrests were not yet available.

Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Sgt Jose Cardoza said the Summer-Labor Day National Anti-DUI crackdown has resulted in 294 DUI arrests so far from local routine traffic enforcement and special Avoid the 13 DUI deployments throughout in Santa Clara County. That is down from the 373 arrests made during the same period last year.

For the final hours of the Labor Day Holiday weekend extra DUI patrols will be deployed in the cities of: Campbell, Milpitas, Los Altos, Mountain View, Los Gatos, Palo Alto, San Jose, Santa Clara, Gilroy,Sunnyvale, Morgan Hill, Cupertino, Saratoga, Los Altos Hills, and the unincorporated areas of Santa Clara County, Cardoza said.

All regularly scheduled traffic and patrol officers will focus efforts at stopping and arresting DUI drivers duringtheir normal shifts. The CHP is deploying all available officers onto freeways and county roads during their "Maximum Enforcement" period until midnight Monday.
