Expect Traffic Snarls on Hwy. 101 in San Jose Friday Afternoon

One lane is shut down because of a big-rig crash.

A jackknifed big-rig is spilling diesel fuel on northbound U.S. Highway 101 in San Jose and has closed a lane and on-ramp this afternoon, according to a California Highway Patrol officer.

The accident, involving at least one big-rig, was reported at 3:13 p.m. just north of 13th Street. A Sig-alert was issued at 3:25 p.m., according to CHP Officer James Evans.

The northbound 13th Street on-ramp is shut down and one northbound lane is blocked because of the crash, Evans said.

Crews are trying to divert the fuel from spilling into drains and other lanes of traffic, Evans said.

There is no estimated time for when the on-ramp and lane will reopen, according to the CHP.
