Mountain View police reported 155 incidents of violent crimes in 2012. That’s a decrease of two since 2011.Though the statistics show a drop in violent crimes, property crimes in Mountain View increased 4.8 percent from 1,353 in 2011 to 1,419 last year.
However, the trends in Mountain View didn't mirror the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) released figures this week, which reported a nationwide increase of violent crimes and a decrease of property crimes after compiling crime data from 18,000 jurisdictions in 50 states.
The FBI's Uniform Crime Reports also included the number of police officers in the nation’s police departments. Mountain View has 94 sworn police officers.
