Female Victim of Crash on Hwy 85 Identified

The California Highway Patrol still seeks second vehicle involved in incident.

The Santa Clara County Coroner's Office has identified Arlette Alonso as the victim of the fatal collision on Saturday.

Alonso, 25, travelled northbound in her Audi around 6:23 p.m. on SR-85 when a white Toyota Camry possibly swerved in front of her to change lanes, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Alonso's vehicle left the roadway and collided with a large tree on the embankment between the E. Evelyn Avenue off ramp. She was pronounced dead on the scene.

This collision is still under investigation and it's unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in this collision. Investigators continue to look for the Toyota, license plate number of 5JNM316, Montiel said.

A friend of the family contacted Patch and said that the family is "devasted."

"They are not speaking or eathing nothing," the woman said. "It's horrible."

Alonso, graduated from UC Merced in 2009 and according to her LinkedIn profile worked at the Coach store in Palo Alto. While a student, Alonso served as a student housing representative, as a sports club supervisor and as a tour guide in the admissions office.

"I just wanted you to know she was an amazing young lady loved by all," the woman added.
