Firefighters Fight Cancer in Pink

The Mountain View Fire Department will wear and sell special edition t-shirts to raise awareness about breast cancer.

Think pink. Think cancer awareness. That's something the wants people to join them for this week.

Until Oct. 16., the local firefighters will wear "Passionately Pink for the Cure" t-shirts with the department's logo to raise awareness, funds and support women who've battled breast cancer. Proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the International Association of Firefighters Charitable Foundation.

"If one woman sees us wearing a pink shirt and that prompts her to go to her doctor to get screened against this disease, then we have made a difference in the community," said John Miguel, fire captian and president of the Local 1965.
