Have You 'Liked' the Police Department on Facebook?

The Mountain View Police Department and other law enforcement agencies embrace social media to communicate with residents and reporters.

Lt. Chris Hsiung is not your typical police officer.

Yes, he's arrested bad guys and carries a gun. But he's also armed with another very important device—a smartphone.

Hsiung has recently became the Mountain View Police Department social media manager and his efforts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest appear to be paying off since there is clear interaction between the residents and the police department.

Also, he takes great photos.

But Hsiung is not alone. Other area law enforcement agencies have begun to embrace social media too. If you follow the MVPD on Twitter you'll see Hsiung's tweets get retweeted by the Fremont and Palo Alto Police Departments, among others.
