Jewelry Stolen 20 Years Ago Seized in Traffic Stop; Police Find Rightful Owner for Charm Bracelet

Residents of Mountain View, East Palo Alto, Santa Clara had loot in their car, and could not explain why, Redwood City police said.

Investigators have identified the rightful owner of an engraved charm bracelet that was stolen during a residential burglary in San Jose 20 years ago after seizing it during a traffic stop in Redwood City, police said today.

Police said they located the unique jewelry in the vehicle and the occupants of the car were unable to prove that they owned the jewelry or explain where it came from. 

The occupants of the vehicle were identified as residents of Santa Clara, Mountain View and East Palo Alto, according to police.   

Redwood City police released photos of dozens of unique necklaces, bracelets, rings and watches seized during a traffic stop on a vehicle in Redwood City on Feb. 6.

Among the many stolen items recovered by Redwood City police was a charm bracelet with names and dates engraved on the charms.

The names and dates on the bracelet were "Ricky 12/9/61," "Flora 1/21/64" and "London 11/8/69," police said.

After alerting the public to the seized items, the owner of the charm bracelet was identified, police said.

The Redwood City Police Department is holding the items for "safe keeping" and is attempting to return the pieces to their rightful owners.
