Late Night Grass Fire Quickly Extinguished

MVFD report that cause of 20 by 20 foot fire on corner of California Street and Shoreline Boulevard remains undetermined.

The responded to vegetation fire on the 1100 block California Street at the corner Shoreline Boulevard shortly after 1 a.m. on Thursday morning.

According to Jaime Garrett, spokeswoman for the fire department, a passerby saw and reported the fire. , located just up Shoreline, arrived on the scene and found an area approximately 20 by 20 feet of vegetation burning. The firefighters quickly extinguished the fire.

A resident of the home next to the fire told Patch that they didn't realize there was a fire until that same passerby knocked on their door and suggested they leave the house.

The cause of the fire has yet to be determined, Garrett said.
