Local 'Pill Mill' Doctor Case Delayed Again Until December

Jasna Mrdjen returns to court on Dec. 27 at 1:30 p.m.

The case against a doctor who faces 13 felony counts, including involuntary manslaughter for the death of a former patient, has been continued again until Dec. 27.

Police arrested Dr. Jasna Mrdjen, 69—a resident of Mountain View—in May for allegedly running a "pill mill" operation out of a small clinic at 14125 Capri Drive in Los Gatos.

She appeared before Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Philip H. Pennypacker Nov. 15. She was arraigned on the charges May 14.

Mrdjen's alleged to have conspired to sell controlled substances by excessively prescribing narcotics—Oxycodone—to patients involved in illegal diversion and resale, according to Santa Clara County Deputy District Attorney Dana Veazey. The investigation is ongoing.

Bail stands at $1 million; she's been unable to post bail.

Mrdjen has not entered a plea. "We'll be going back for discussion to figure out how the case will be decided," she added.

Her attorney, Guyton Jinkerson, has not returned calls from Patch seeking comment.
