Man Shot Several Times in East Palo Alto

The Menlo Park man was sitting in a car when he was attacked.

A Menlo Park man was wounded in a shooting in East Palo Alto Sunday night.

Officers were called around 8:15 p.m. Sunday after the city's ShotSpotter gunshot detection system alerted them to shots fired in the 2200 block of Addison Avenue, police said.

Police arriving on the scene located the victim, a 49-year-old man, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his extremities.

He was taken to a local hospital to be treated. An update on his condition was not immediately available.

According to police, the man was shot while sitting in his parked vehicle.

Investigators believe that one or more suspects may have approached the vehicle on foot and shot the man, then fled immediately, police said.

An number of people are getting shot while waiting in a car in East Palo Alto and Belle Haven - I think this this the 3rd in the past month (this one, the one in Belle Haven on Ivy Drive, and one on Alberni Street in East Palo Alto).
