Man Wanted for Assault With a Deadly Weapon, Felony Hit and Run

A 19-year-old Sunnyvale man sought by the MVPD for incident on E. Evelyn and Bernardo Avenues Monday; but his name has not yet been released.

The police department have been unable to locate a suspect after an assault with a deadly weapon and felony hit and run, Tuesday evening on the border of Mountain View and Sunnyvale.

At about 7:40 p.m. in the parking lot of the at 779 E. Evelyn Ave., the victims—a Sunnyvale woman, 46, and her son, 19—recognized the suspect whom they believed had broken into their house in Sunnyvale earlier in the year, explained Spokeswoman Liz Wylie.

The son, who the MVPD will also consider a suspect, confronted the suspect while he sat in his car about their suspicions and the two began to argue, according to Wylie. The son asked the suspect to get out of the car, but he didn't.

The son then smashed the car window of the suspect's 2002 Honda Civic and the two "began trying to punch each other through the broken window," Wylie said.

At this point the mother tried to break up the fight and pulled her son away from the suspect's car. The suspect "revved his engine, squealed his tires and accelerated towards the two victims."

Though the male victim jumped out of the way of the car, his mother got hit by the suspect's vehicle, which knocked her to the ground.

"The suspect took off," said Wylie, but a male "witness took down the suspect’s license plate."

The son suffered scrapes to his forearm and hand from smashing the car window and had a bloody nose from his fist fight with the suspect, Wylie explained. Mountain View Patch was on the scene and observed the injuries, treated on site by the .

According to Wylie, the son—while not a victim in those two acts—will be charged for vandalism and battery, but the fist fight "was mutual."

Because the suspect "nearly succeeded" in hitting the son with the car, the warrant includes the charge for assault with a deadly weapon.

The mother complained of significant pain to her knees and hip, and an ambulance transported her to the hospital.

The suspect's has been identified by the MVPD—though his identity has not been released—by the license plate number of the car.

We have requested a warrant for his arrest for assault with a deadly weapon and felony hit and run.
