Local firefighters help to protect structures from the wildfire.

Nearly 3,700 firefighters statewide have descended on Stanislaus National Forest near Yosemite National Park to fight the Rim Fire including from the Mountain View Fire Department.

The MVFD sent four firefighters in Engine 7 as part of the Santa Clara County strike team assigned to structure protection in Cold Springs on Highway 108. They have been told that this assignment would last through Wednesday, according to the MVFD's Facebook page.

The MVFD shared some photos pictures from the last couple of days taken by firefighters.

"Our firefighters remain in good spirits and have no reported injuries! Please continue to keep them in your thoughts!" a spokesperson wrote.

According to CAL FIRE, Firefighters have made some progress despite the Rim Fire’s continued growth now 20 percent contained. The Rim Fire has become the seventh largest wildfire in California’s recorded history.
