Mountain View Man Shot in Head during Robbery

The suspect remains at large.

A man walking in the Wagon Wheel neighborhood of Mountain View became the victim of a gunshot wound during a robbery Monday, police officials report.

The bullet grazed the 20-something-year-old victim's head, according to Mountain View Police spokesman Sean Thompson. The victim, who didn't suffer life-threatening wounds, has been released from the hospital.

The incident occurred on July 1 around 1:15 p.m. on Fairchild Drive at Tyrella Avenue.  The victim walked on Fairchild when the suspect approached him allegedly armed with a dark colored handgun, according to the MVPD.

As the suspect and the victim struggled over the property, the victim was shot in the head, Thompson said.

The MVPD set up a perimeter, but couldn't locate the suspect described as a black male adult, 6 feet tall and in his mid 20s. He wore a dark-colored baseball cap and dark-colored jeans.

The investigation remains ongoing and "leads are being pursued at this time," Thompson said.
