Mountain View Police Rank First in Twitter Followers

New study reveals the department is followed by more than 4,500 Twitter users.

 

According to the IACP Center for Social Media, the Mountain View Police Department has the highest number of Twitter followers among law enforcement agencies of similar size in the United States.

In a recent breakdown of statistics on its website the IACP noted that with 4,670 Twitter followers, the Mountain View Police Department ranks first in the number of followers among Municipal Law Enforcement Agencies of between 50 and 99 sworn officers. According the department's website there are 97 sworn officers on staff.

Every day Mountain View police send out breaking public safety alerts, traffic enforcement updates and local news of interest to local residents through its Twitter account using the name @MountainViewPD.

In addition to breaking updates via Twitter, Mountain View police post public safety notices, traffic updates and crime news on its Nixle and Facebook pages.
