Pedestrian Killed on Hwy 101 ID'd as Woman, 25
She reportedly walked directly into path of oncoming car near Great America Parkway exit Wednesday night.
A 25-year-old woman was struck and killed Wednesday night as she walked in a lane of northbound U.S. Highway 101 in Santa Clara, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The woman was identified this morning as Azaleah Aglubut, a resident of San Jose, according to the Santa Clara County medical examiner's office.
Shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday, Aglubut was walking in a northeasterly direction in the far right lane of the highway, just north of Great America Parkway, according to the CHP.
She headed directly into the path of an oncoming car, a 2006 BMW driven by a 31-year-old Redwood City woman, and the car collided with her, officers said.
After the collision, Aglubut came to rest in the roadway and passersby moved her to the shoulder of the highway, where emergency personnel responded and pronounced her dead, according to the CHP.
The BMW driver, who was not injured, stopped and cooperated with investigators, CHP officials said.
