Police Blotter: Stolen Credit, Gift Card Wishes and Caviar Dreams

The Mountain View Police Department shares crime reports from March 27-30.

Possession of stolen property

  • During a traffic enforcement stop for an alleged expired registration at 10:03 p.m. March 30 at 1037 El Monte Ave., the Mountain View Police Department allegedly noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a search, the officer found in the purse of the female driver one credit card and 35 gift cards from vendors like Target, American Express and VISA ranging in value from $50 to $100. The credit card was allegedly reported stolen. Whether the gift cards had been stolen or activated was unknown to the police officer at the time. Sacramento resident Troyana Jai Nah Johnson, 18, was arrested and booked for possession of stolen property and for giving false identification to a peace officer. She had allegedly initially lied about her name to the officer, according to the MVPD. The other people in the vehicle were not arrested.

Burglary

  • On Saturday, March 30 at 10:52 a.m., loss prevention security at Costco allegedly observed a woman with latex gloves walking down an aisle. According to the MVPD, security found the fact that she wore latex gloves unusual. Security continued to follow her and noticed that she had a caviar package in the child seat of the shopping cart she pushed. Security followed her and then noticed that she removed an unknown object from her pocket and used it to cut open the caviar package. Then he saw her put the caviar in her jacket pocket and discard the empty package. The alleged suspect then exited the store at which point loss prevention detained and escorted her back to the security office from where they called the police. A box cutter and a jar of caviar was allegedly found in her possession by law enforcement. Palo Alto resident Terry Gail Hess, 56, was arrested and booked for burglary and sent to the San Jose main jail. The caviar was valued at $56.

Burglary

  • The MVPD received a report at 1:34 p.m. March 28 of an alleged burglary on the 200 block of View Street that may have taken place sometime between March 27 at 6 p.m. and March 28 at 12:01 p.m. According to the MVPD, the victim reported the theft of one of her bikes, an Ariel Specialized women’s 21-speed mountain bike worth $850, which had been locked in a secured underground parking of complex. The suspect's description is unknown.

Burglary

  • The MVPD received a report of a stolen Giant mountain bike worth $1,200 on March 28 from the apartment complex at 217 Ada Ave. According to police, the male victim last saw his bike on March 20 and noticed it missing on March 21. He called to report it missing on March 28. The unknown suspect allegedly stole the bike from the underground parking structure which is accessible by a key. The officer saw a lock that appeared to be cut that belonged to the victim. According to the victim that area had been burglarized before.
