Police Seek Robbers Who Stole Oxycodone Pills from Woman

Los Altos woman asked friends for a ride; instead, they stole her prescription medication, police say.

The continues the search for a husband and wife from East Palo Alto who last week allegedly robbed and shoved a woman from a moving car on San Antonio Road.

However, the victim has now become uncooperative and has disconnected her cell phone.

"She was hesitant to cooperate in the beginning," said police spokeswoman Liz Wylie. "She is not cooperating now. We don't know why."

On Thursday, at around 8 p.m., the 50-year-old victim had just finished picking up a prescription of 90 oxycodone pills from the at Grand Road, according to Wylie. She waited for her friends, the suspects, to give her a ride. Oxycontin is one of the brand names for this drug used to relieve severe pain.

Once in the car, the suspects reportedly drove west on El Camino Real. After they had turned north, at some point, the suspects demanded that the victim hand over her prescription, Wylie said.

The female suspect allegedly reached into the back seat toward the victim's open purse and grabbed $160 and then allegedly punched the victim in the face three times, according to Wylie. The male suspect then took the victim's cellphone.

Wylie said that when the car stopped near the intersection of San Antonio Road and Mita Avenue in Palo Alto, the female suspect grabbed the victim's small dog and threw it out the window. As the victim tried to get out of the car to get her dog, the male driver started to drive off. He then stopped the car and shoved out the victim.

A passerby, who saw what happened and grabbed the dog, called 911.

were the first at the scene; however, since the cause of action mostly took place in Mountain View, the MVPD will handle the investigation. The victim suffered bumps on her head but declined medical attention.

According to Wylie, the victim identified the suspects. Possible felony charges include robbery and kidnapping. There may be an additional misdemeanor charge for animal cruelty.

"We are still not sure what all the charges will be," Wylie said.
