Suspect at Large After Evading Police in Mtn. View, Palo Alto

The California Highway Patrol is asking for the public's help tracking down a suspect that evaded officers through two Santa Clara County cities Friday afternoon.

Miguel Toledo Jr., 30, of San Mateo, was pulled over while driving on northbound U.S. Highway 101, just south of Amphitheatre Parkway in Mountain View, for driving with an expired registration, the CHP said.

Toledo yielded to San Antonio Road, just east of Highway 101, in Mountain View, according to the CHP. During the stop, Toledo provided the officer false information. When he was asked to step out of the car, he fled the scene, the CHP said.

Toledo eventually stopped his car again in the 1000 block of Corporation Way, near East Bayshore Road, in Palo Alto, according to the CHP. He then fled on foot into an industrial park.

CHP officers, along with assistance from a K9 unit, police in Palo Alto and Mountain View, and Santa Clara County sheriff's deputies, assisted in the search, according to the CHP.

The search was called off at about 5:40 p.m. when officers could not track down Toledo, the CHP said. Officers spotted and seized a knife in the car Toledo was driving.

Toledo is described as a Filipino man standing 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing about 120 pounds. He is bald, and was last seen wearing blue jeans and a light-colored shirt.

Anyone who sees Toledo is asked to call local police. The Google Day Care put itself on lockdown during the search.
