The Valentine's Day Bandit

Man steals electronics from Costco; arrested on the scene.

A Loss Prevention Agent arrested a thief after the man walked out with almost $400 worth of goods, reports the .

According to MVPD spokesperson Liz Wylie on Feb. 14  at 11:55 a.m., Mountain View resident Kurt Klein, 20, was allegedly observed by the Costco employee opened a plastic package for a Nikon camera and accessories with a box cutter. 

Next, Klein proceeded to put the equipment in his pocket and then allegedly, did so with a portable hard drive and USB cable.

After the suspect walked out of Costco without allegedly paying for the items in his pocket, the agent tried to detain him. Klein then pushed the agent and ran. However, the agent caught up, pulled him to the ground and placed Klein under private person’s arrest.

Wylie said all of the stolen items and the box cutter used to cut the packaging open were recovered. The total value of the items was $399.98.
