Two-Car Collision Sends Pregnant Woman to Hospital

Northbound Shoreline Boulevard at W. Middlefield Road closed Sunday evening for nearly an hour after vehicle-related injuries.

A pregnant woman and teenage girl have been transported to a local hospital after a two-car collision Sunday afternoon.

Two other adults and another child, in a car seat, appeared unharmed Patch observed from the scene.

The incident, which occurred around 6:50 p.m. next to the on Shoreline Boulevard and W. Middlefield Road, caused front-end damage to both the red van and the silver sedan. The van ended up facing southbound on the northbound lane; the sedan ended up on the sidewalk.

The pregnant woman appeared six to seven months pregnant. From the stretcher, she could be seen crying and holding her head with her hands. The teen girl, around 16, looked visibly shaken and was in tears as she was removed from the sedan.

Both the Mountain View Police and Fire Departments responded. The male driver of the van was detained for not carrying license, according to a sargeant on the scene. He was taken to police headquarters for verification.
