UPDATE: Dana Gardens Structure Remains Uninhabitable

Cause of fire remains unknown, fire department says.

The reports that the building 'C' at 200 E. Dana St. remains uninhabitable and might be demolished.

"Currently no one can live there," said Jaime Garrett, department spokeswoman. She explained that building management has to tear down the walls, strip off the sheet rock and once they get to the studs they'll have to determine structural integrity. "If it's not good, they would have to demolish the building."

This news comes eight days nearly 50 people at the Dana Gardens apartments.

According to Garrett, seven units received red tags, which means that no one can live there. Yellow tags went to 19 units and residents were only allowed to retrieve items.

A report on the cause of the fire will be released in a few days, said Garrett.

Two firefighters were injured battling the mid-afternoon blaze.
