Vehicle Engulfed in Flames on Hwy 101 at Shoreline Blvd

Minor injuries suffered by drivers of the two vehicles involved.

A car caught on fire on Highway 101, according to a sig-alert issued by the California Highway Patrol this rainy Monday evening.

The report came in at around 5:53 p.m., of a vehicle fully engulfed in flames on the No. 4 lane of US-101 on northbound at Shoreline Boulevard in Mountain View.

Engines No. 3 and 4 of the Mountain View Fire Department were dispatched to the scene and confirmed the fully engulfed vehicle, according to conversations heard over the police/fire scanner.

The fire department quickly extinguish the fire.

According to the MVFD, another vehicle further up ahead appeared to have been involved, but was not on fire.

The two drivers suffered minor injuries and refused further medical assistance from an ambulance.

The accident scene began to clear at 6:30 p.m.
