City to Observe National Moment of Silence on 9/11

Small processional and ceremony to take place Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Civic Center.

Ten years since the attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, the nation will pause and remember the fallen, the survivors, the first responders and all who helped the nation move forward after the tragic events.

The would like to invite the community to join others across the nation and cease all work and other activities, if possible, for a minute of silence at 10 a.m. PST Sunday to remember and reflect.

Mayor signed a proclamation on Aug. 15 to commemorate this occasion.

The falls on 9/11 this year, so the will host a small processional of local public safety, military and service clubs. The event will start at 11 a.m. at Bryant and Mercy streets on one side, and on Mercy and Hope Street on the other. The processional will merge on Castro Street and end at the Civic Center.

The ceremony will include the national anthem, local speakers, lowering the flag to half-staff (flags at city facilities will also be at half-staff) and an additional moment of silence and remembrance.
