Council Recognizes Teen Friendly Businesses

Peet's, Chipotle and Starbucks among the dozen of businesses selected by the teens.

Three of 12 businesses chosen by local teens received awards at City Council on Tuesday.

Mayor John Inks and members of the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) recognized Chipotle and Starbucks at El Monte shopping center, and the Peet's Coffee on Castro Street for their friendliness to their teen patrons.

"I'm very excited for any recognition like this. The teens make our business a great environment," Juan Garcia, manager of the Chipotle. "They treat our business feels likely their home."

"For us it's about providing great customer services."

Similarly, the Assistant Manager at Peet's Chris Johnson felt that it's about providing great customer service to all members of the Mountain View community.

"It's quite amazing [to receive this award] because teens are usually tested like second class-customers in some places because they can't spend enough or they come in with a group and only one person gets drink," Johnson said.

Like Garcia, Peet's likes that the teens feel like their coffee shop is like their home.
