El Camino Hospital's Kladde Resigns from Board

Uwe Kladde wants to spend more focused time with his family, a hospital spokesperson said.

After four years on the , Uwe Kladde has decided to resign from the five-member board.

Kladde, who served on the El Camino Hospital District (ECHD) and Hospital Boards since 2008, also resigned in January from Hospital Board citing personal reasons. In a press release issued Tuesday, May 15 said he wanted to focus more time on his family.

"It has been my privilege to serve on the El Camino Hospital and District Boards of Directors and I thank them for their support as I make this personal decision," said Kladde. "I am proud of the work we have done over the last four years to create positive change for those served by El Camino Hospital and District-supported healthcare services."

According to the press release, the hospital's District Board will determine the process to fill the vacancy on the District and Hospital Boards left by the resignation of Kladde in the coming weeks.

Simultaneously, the District Board has been in the final stages of an assessment of applicants who will be appointed to expand the ECHB from six to nine members. The District Board will also add an additional 15 to 18 individuals with expertise to become non-director members of the six hospital board advisory committees.

"The expansion of the hospital Board is an important step in creating a stronger organization that will benefit the entire community for years to come,” said Kladde.

The Board and Committee recruitment process should be completed by mid-June.

Established by the voters in 1956, the ECHD was established by voter approval in 1956 and oversees and approves ECHD tax-dollar expenditures, including expenditures for the Community Benefit Plan, which provides critical heal services to the underserved. The District Board reviews and approves all ECHD tax dollar expenditures, which are independently audited and certified each year.
