Forum Set For Mountain View City Council Hopefuls
With the Nov. 6 election approaching, candidates are stepping up their efforts to reach out to voters and share their thoughts on local issues.
Six candidates, vying to fill four open seats on the Mountain View City Council in this November’s election, will answer questions at a forum this week sponsored by the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce.
The event, which is open to the public, will take place Thursday, Aug. 30, in the City Hall Council Chambers at 500 Castro St. Doors open at 6 p.m.

The seats up for grabs in the Nov. 6 election include those occupied by Laura Macias and Tom Means, who both have served the maximum two terms on the council and will step down in January 2013.
Incumbents Mike Kasperzak and John Inks are running to keep their seats on the council for another term. Kasperzak is the current mayor, while Inks is vice-mayor. Both will participate in Thursday's forum.

Other candidates at the forum will be:
- Margaret Capriles (retired tech company executive)
- Chris Clark (tech company executive)
- John McAlister (Retail business owner, certified public accountant)
- Jim Neal (information technology professional)
Questions for the candidates will be collected from the public during the forum which will be moderated by Oscar Garcia, the chamber’s president and chief executive officer.
