Hospital Workers to Hold Candlelight Vigil for Voter Initiative

Union workers launch signature campaign to place initiative on ballot to cap El Camino Hospital executive pay.

Candlelight vigils conjure up thoughts of memorials. Maybe workers at plan to send executives a message?

Members of the hospital's Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare West (SEIU-UHW) announced Tuesday the launch of an event to gather signatures for for any executive, manager, or administrator of either El Camino Hospital or El Camino Hospital District to twice the annual salary of the state governor.

They plan to meet, by candlelight, outside El Camino Hospital 4-6 p.m, Feb. 8.

Hospital officials, however, have pointed to the hospital's negotiation information to clarify that hospital employees will not have their healthcare eliminated nor their pension reduced, as they claim, to benefit executive pay.
