Jac Gives Certificates to YAC

At tonight's meeting, four Youth Activities Committee members recognized for service to city.

Jacquelyn Cheng, Carolyn Yang, Natalie Preciado and James Tensuan received recognition from tonight for their leadership and contributions to the Youth Activities Committee.

Mayor Jac Siegel awarded certificates to three of the four youth for organizing a health fair, the Mayor's Youth Conference, events for kids–including a conference at City Hall for elementary and middle school students–and for volunteering around the city.

"It's nice to receive this certificate," said Tensuan, 18, a graduate of who will attend San Jose State University this fall. Tensuan contributes to both Mountain View and Los Altos Patch. "I think that YAC is one of those things that go sometimes goes unnoticed by people."

The YAC members shared that they enjoyed giving back to their community, providing a voice for the youth and learning more about city government.

Like Tensuan, Yang and Cheng will move on to college this year. Yang, 18, a Los Altos High School graduate will start at Princeton University and Cheng, also of LAHS, will start at Cornell University. Preciado will be a sophmore at LAHS.
