Mountain View Holocaust Survivors Honored Monday

Assemblyman Rich Gordon publicly recognized local residents in Sacramento during the Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony.

Most people learn about the Holocaust from textbooks, while a few of us have the opportunity to learn from the survivors themselves.

In commemoration of California Holocaust Memorial Week, Assemblyman Rich Gordon (Menlo Park) recognized three Holocaust survivors and two family members of survivors at an annual Holocaust Remembrance Day Ceremony, Yom Hashoah, in Sacramento Monday.

Among them are Helen and Jack Shipper, survivors from Mountain View, and their son and grandson, Ron and Henry Shipper, for their perseverance and in memory of the 6 million Jews killed during the Holocaust. Gordon also honored Sol Shatz, a survivor from Sunnyvale.
