Mountain View Unemployment at 7.4 Percent

New data places the city in the middle of the pack in Santa Clara County for unemployment rates.

Mountain View's unemployment rate registered at 7.4 percent or 3,100 people of the city's 42,300 labor force, according to the state's preliminary August Employment Development Department data released Friday.

it hovered at 7.6 percent.

Santa Clara County's unemployment rate dropped below 10 percent compared to California's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate, which increased from 12 to 12.1 percent from July.

At 9.9 percent, the county ranks ninth in the state for the proportion of active job seekers compared to the employed labor workforce. Marin County at 7.3 percent and San Mateo County at 8.3 claim the two lowest spots.

The national rate remained flat at 9.1 percent month-to-month.
