Pulitzer Awarded to Patch Sister Site for Wounded Veterans Coverage

David Wood, of the Huffington Post, was awarded the Pulitzer Prize Monday for "Beyond the Battlefield."

Huffington Post senior military correspondent David Wood has received journalism's coveted Pulitzer Prize Monday for his coverage of severly wounded veterans and their families.

His 10-part series, "Beyond the Battlefield," explored facets of recovery that ranged from a severely scarred Army veteran who performs comedy to the challenges the military and Department of Veterans Affairs have to keep up with the amount of injured service members.

Locally, Mountain View Patch has published a set of stories on U.S. Army Sergeant Brian Jergens severely wounded in Afghanistan and will soon write more on the wounded soliders that live at Moffett Field. Patch also covered the return of the body of Sean Walsh, California Army National Guardsman killed in Afghanistan.
