Sunday Morning Temporary Lane Closures on Hwy 101

VTA to briefly shutdown the freeway in Mountain View at Rengstorff Avenue.

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority will briefly shut down U.S. Highway 101 in Mountain View and Palo Alto on Sunday morning to install new utility lines.

The closure this Sept. 25 will be done in three phases each around 10 minutes in duration for a total estimated amount of time of an hour and half, between 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m near Rengstorff Ave. exit in Mountain View in both directions..

Crews will remove existing utility lines and place new ones as part of the , which aims to improve congestion in the area, according to the VTA.

Other aspects of the project include constructing auxiliary lanes and extending existing second high occupancy vehicle lanes in both directions of Highway 101 between state Highway 85 in Mountain View and the Embarcadero Road interchange in Palo Alto.

California Highway Patrol personnel will be on site to help direct traffic to ensure safety.
