Weigh In on City of Mountain View's New Website

As part of the design process for the new website, more than 30 members of the community with varying backgrounds and perspectives participated in a number of focus groups. 

In addition, nearly 100 other community members gave input through an online survey. 

“This new website represents a successful partnership between City staff, Council and the community,” said City Manager Dan Rich. “We are excited to showcase the results of this group effort while remaining open to suggestions from the public on how to make it even better.”

The new website project began in July 2012 with the goal of creating a better user experience that would deliver information to the public on multiple platforms. To do so, a cross-section of members of the community had to be closely involved in its development. 

“It’s as simple as this: great things happen when we work collaboratively,” said City Mayor Chris Clark, who is also a member of the Council’s Technology Committee. “Residents, businesses and local thought-leaders stepped up to provide their input to City Council and staff. The result is something that the whole community will be proud of.”

While Beta.MountainView.gov is open for public feedback, City staff will continue to add new content and review community feedback with the hope of incorporating some of the suggestions before the final version of the site goes live in May. 

Until then, the current City website at MountainView.gov will still be available and maintained as the primary source of online information for the City. After four to six weeks of public input and fine-tuning, the beta site will become the City’s official website.
