Congratulations to Los Altos High's April 2012 Student of the Month, Anthony Bello. The  designates this honor to a student from one or more of its high schools each month and provides the text of its nomination to Patch. Bello will be honored at the Apr. 23 meeting of the Board of Trustees:

Mountain View Patch is proud to present Anthony Bello as this month's student of the month.

Anthony is very involved on campus. As a member of the Vecinos club, he visits the in Mountain View to practice and help with language and communication, as well as share stories and cultures.

He is also a member of Students for Haiti Solidarity, where he spends time planning and fundraising for Los Altos’ sister school in Haiti, Sopudep.

Anthony has also been a member of Talon, Los Altos’ newspaper, for 2 years as a staff writer. He is amazingly able to balance his hours of Talon "late nights," club volunteering, and sports, with four Advanced Placement classes.

However, Anthony is not just involved in clubs on campus. He also plays tennis for the Eagles, making varsity as a sophomore. Tennis has been a passion of his for the last nine years, and he has been playing at the national level since age 14. He is currently ranked 318th in the nation.

In the future, Anthony hopes to study biomedical engineering and play tennis at UC-Los Angeles or Duke University in North Carolina. We are confident that he will excel at either school, and would like to congratulate him on being chosen as student of the month!
