Julius Genachowski, Chairman of the Federal Communications Commission

As Chairman of the FCC, Genachowski leads the federal agency responsible for wired and wireless communications. He has focused the FCC on the opportunities of digital communications, particularly broadband, pursuing policies to spur private investment and innovation, foster competition, and empower consumers. Under his leadership, the FCC developed the National Broadband Plan, an ambitious strategy to harness the opportunities of high-speed Internet, and promote U.S. global competitiveness. In a landmark decision on December 21, 2010, the FCC voted to pass the first enforceable net neutrality regulations. Genachowski discusses what is next for the communications industry.
