MVHS Student of the Month: Dahlia Perry

This month's student was a member of the marching band, co-founded a mentoring program and is UPenn bound to study psychology.

Congratulations to Mountain View High's January 2012 Student of the Month, Dahlia Petty. The  designates this honor to a student from one or more of its high schools each month and provides the text of its nomination to Patch. Perry was honored at the Jan. 9 meeting of the Board of Trustees:

Dahlia Perry is not only a future Quaker – the mascot of the University of Pennsylvania where she has decided to go to college – but an incredible person.

Dahlia excels in school proven by her 4.4 GPA and she still manages to pursue her passions at the same time. In school, her favorite class has been peer tutoring for Mrs. Wu’s English Language Development class because she loved hearing all the different languages at the same time.

Her favorite memory in school was last year’s marching band show in Folsom, in which she was in the color guard. During the show, right as MVHS marcheding band entered the field in competition, it started pouring; and the rain ended right when they departed the field.

Outside of school, Dahlia co-founded the HOPE mentoring program, volunteers at the Ronald McDonald house, and did gymnastics. Dahlia, who was accepted into the prestigious UPenn and plans to major in psychology. Beyond college, Dahlia hopes to intertwine her passions of art (she was a part of the Freestyle Academy last year) and teaching to perhaps do art therapy.
