Sand Hill Review Publishes LAHS Grad's Poetry

Two poems by Libbie Katsev appear in the newest edition.

Los Altos High School graduate and Mountain View resident Libbie Katsev gets another honor in her long list of writing honors: Publication in the Sand Hill Review.

Two of Katsev's poems, "cure for nostalgia" and "a poem about electromagnetic repulsion and thermonuclear reactions" were selected by poetry editor Janice Dabney and appear in the 2013 edition, which was released this week.

The Sand Hill Review was created more than a decade ago by two literary-minded colleagues at the Stanford Linear Accelerator to champion up-and-coming writers, via print and online editions. Since then, it has grown from very local to have an international reach in audience and contributors.

"I don't know if she's the youngest in this issue," wrote co-founder Martin Sorensen in a response to a Patch query, "but it is unusual to have someone appear in SHR at her stage of life."

Libbie Katsev is a recent graduate of Los Altos High School, where she was the editor-in-chief of the newspaper, creative director of the literary magazine, and co-president of the poetry club. Libbie is a 2013 YoungArts Winner, a NCTE award winner for Superior Writing, a 2012 Kenyon Review Young Writer, and has been honored by the National League of American Pen Women. Her work has been published in the Postscript Journal. Libbie lives in Mountain View, California, and will be attending Yale University in the fall.
