Whiz Kid’s Accomplishments: Agnes Wang is known for her humanitarianism and volunteer work, throughout both her campus and her community. She has volunteered at Camp Everytown, which works to celebrate children’s differences; and serves as the treasurer for the Red Cross. She also volunteers her time with an international services committee based in Palo Alto, which raises money for relief efforts in countries like Haiti, and for vaccinations for poorer countries. She also helps collect books to send to China, and has raised $1,000 for an organization called Well Done, which builds wells in Africa, to help bring the people clean water. To stay active, Agnes plays for the Royal Badminton Academy in Mountain View, and this year plays varsity badminton for her school. Whiz Kid’s Key to Success: Agnes said, “School can be extremely stressful and tiring at times, but I always keep myself going by telling myself that the more I try to achieve, the better I will feel at the end of the year, as I look back at what I have accomplished, experienced, and learned through the hardships and, at times, overpowering workload. More often than not, I try to envision what I want to be like or what I want to achieve in the future as a motivation. There are so many possibilities out there in the world, and because of that I feel like there are so many things to do and create. The diversity of inspirations feeds into my own passion to take advantage of the opportunities I have right in front of me before it's too late, especially if that means I have the potential to change even the smallest aspect of society.”
