Erica’s accomplishments are almost too many to name. She always puts academics as her top priority, maintaining a 4.8 grade-point average. Her list of extra-curricular activities is just as impressive, however.

She is a star volleyball player, playing for the Mountain View High School team as well as the nationally ranked team Vision, which competes in several states across the Western U.S.

Erica is also an integral member of her school’s competitive speech and debate team, and regularly volunteers as a tutor for fellow students in the Tutorial Center. Erica is also very passionate about learning languages—she has studied advanced levels of Spanish for years, is now beginning to learn French. She's considering a semester abroad in Italy to study Greek, Latin and Italian.

Erica is also in the process of writing her own novel, a drama about teen angst.

Erica plans to apply to Stanford University, University of California, Los Angeles, and Univeristy of Southern California next year.

Whiz Kid’s Key to Success: Elize Manoukian, a classmate and friend of Erica’s, wrote this about her friend for the district’s Student of the Month presentation earlier this month: “Erica Fischer-Colbrie is an amazing individual. She is brilliant, witty, and an extremely talented writer. But the quality I admire most about her is her charisma. She is definitely a ‘people-person,’ and when she walks into a room, everyone is instantly thrilled to see her. I’m very grateful to have her in my life, and I predict great things for her!”
