Best Spots to Watch Super Bowl XLVII in Mountain View

Prefer to go out instead of throwing a party? Some local specials might be a reason not to stay home on Super Bowl Sunday!

Super Bowl XLVII, professional sport's most anticipated championship game, takes place Sunday. Have you figured out where you'll your San Francisco 49ers take on the Baltimore Ravens?

Whether you tune in the entire time, only watch commercials or just plan to dance along with Beyonce, at halftime, the right atmosphere can make all the difference.

Here's a list of our suggestions for best locations in Mountain View to watch Super Bowl XLVI this Sunday, Feb. 5 at 3:30 p.m.:

  • St. Stephen's Green, one of two irish pubs on Castro Street, has several projection screens (one on along the back wall and another near the front) and half a dozen flat screens along the bar. Get there early, and save your seat. Cover charge $10 include 1 free drink. Beer bucket five bottle of either Coors Light or Bud Aluminum for $15; Wing specials: 8 for $7.50; 16 for $14; 24 for $20 and 32 for $26; Touchdown basket, for $7.99 include wings, onion rings and fries.
  • On Castro, Molly Magees has several flat screens along the bar, so show up early if you want a seat! There's no kitchen, but Don Giovanni's next door delivers (So no chicken wings! But perhaps calamari?)
  • Head to Tied House—Mountain View's very own brewery—and enjoy a microbrew and delicious grub on the multiple screens. Tied House will have Happy Hours specials. Pints are $3.25 and certain appetizers will be half off. Also, the brewery will raffle different size kegs every quarter.
  • Tucked away in the alley at 236 Castro St., Mervyn's Lounge, a dive bar, has three televisions, and reviewers on Yelp tout the "great prices, great service and great people." For more information, call 650-938-2968.
  • Bert's Alibi, next to True Value Hardware, is a dive bar with multiple flat-screen TVs and a laid-back atmosphere. It is a go-to establishment for locals who want a social place to watch the games.
  • Sports Page has big screen TVs and a huge patio area with plenty of seating and is a good place to go to enjoy food and drinks with friends—and they have tons of specials: Pitchers, $10; a beer bucket of six bottlers, domestic or foreign, $18; shots of Jack Daniel's, Jose Cuervo or Rum, $3.50; shots of Jaegermeister, $4; shot of Patron Silver $6; All appetizers except buffalo wings, $4; Buffalo wings, $4.50; Burgers (beef, veggie, turkey) all $5.50 with fries; and all Philly Steaks (chicken or steak) $7.50 with fries.
  • Not too far on 2135 Old Middlefield Way, Francesca's has several flat-screen TVs that will be tuned into Super Bowl central. If you live in the Monta Loma and Rex Manor don't want to drive, this could be a good choice. For Sunday, Francesca's will have Happy Hour specials all day: Beer, domestic or foreign, bottle or draft, between $2.50 and $3.25; Well drink, $3; and a special BBQ buffet with ribs, chicken and potato salad for $10.
  • Fred's Place is a local dive bar at 2534 Old Middlefield Way that has several large-screen HD televisions and a jukebox. Good choice if you want to avoid downtown.
